Tracy Hall—15 Years Experience, Reading Specialist

I am so excited to begin my 3rd year as the Reading Specialist here at J.L. Mudd Elementary! I actually began my educational journey at Lindenwood University-where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist.  It was during my 12 years as a Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher that I realized my passion and excitement for instilling a love for reading. Every day I am thankful to be able to help our students grow as the Readers and Leaders of tomorrow. During my free time, I often enjoy sunny days on the river boating or relaxing with my family- my husband Jim, and our two furry children- Phoebe and Zoey.

Abby Hawkins, 6 Years Experience, Technology Teacher

My name is Abby Hawkins, and this will be my sixth year with the J.L. Mudd family.  I graduated from Lindenwood University with my Masters in Education with Reading Specialist Certificate and also from Webster University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I look forward to going to school every day and helping students find what their passions in life are. I enjoy helping them find a path which will help them achieve those dreams. Seeing a child make tremendous progress throughout the year brings me so much joy. Some interesting facts about me: Over the summer I got married and traveled to Italy and Germany for our Honeymoon. I come from a very large family; in fact I am the middle child of seven. My parents own a ranch in Missouri, where they have 9 alpacas and 2 llamas. I love to bake delicious sweets in the kitchen and love spending time with family and friends.

Angela Lamb- 15 Years Experience, Physical Education

I am so excited to be starting my second year as a Physical Education teacher at J.L. Mudd Elementary. Previously, I taught second grade at Pheasant Point Elementary in Fort Zumwalt. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Lindenwood University and my Master’s Degree in Educational Theory and Practice from Arkansas State University. My goal as a P.E. teacher is to help all of my students have fun and enjoy being active while developing lifelong ways to stay healthy.  I enjoy spending time being active and playing sports with my husband Dan, and my three children, Alivia, Jonah, and Alysse.

Julie Lankston – 25 years experience, Art Teacher

I am so thrilled to be part of the J. L. Mudd Elementary School.  I have taught in the district for 17 years, and I just love it here.  I went to SMSU in Springfield and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Painting and became certified to teach art K–12.  I taught high school art for 7 years in Piedmont, MO.  It was a great place to finish raising my kids. During this time I earned my Master of Education Degree from Boliver.  I moved up here in 2000.  I started teaching the elementary grades and fell in love.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I have 2 lovely children, Rose and Keith, and 3 grandchildren I adore! Some of the things I like to do are reading, cooking, going to art galleries and museums, fishing, and just relaxing on my patio enjoying my roses.

Terri Rhine-  14 Years Experience, Instructional Coach

I am very excited about  my second year as the Instructional Coach at J.L. Mudd. I previously taught second grade at J.L. Mudd for 12 years.  I  honestly love my job of working with both teachers and students on a daily basis to help all students reach high levels of achievement. I love to collaborate with teachers to find the best teaching strategies to ensure student success, and I love to celebrate each child’s academic achievements in the classroom. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two beautiful daughters, running, and watching movies. I also love to curl up on the couch with a good book. My favorite book is still Charlotte's Web.

Audra Salvo – 13 Years Experience, Counselor

I truly love being a member of the J.L. Mudd team! This will be my eleventh year as the school counselor. I have also taught in every grade level at J.L. Mudd, which helped in my decision to become the school counselor. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with children at the primary level, along with teachers and families to provide them with academic, emotional, and social support. Most importantly, I am able to work with our students to help them learn skills needed for life and to help them become their own problem solvers. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. In my free time, I enjoy time with my husband, daughter (Laney), and son (Liam). I love being active, exercising, and being with my family and friends.

Phyllis Shanker—29 Years Experience, Librarian

I truly found my dream job when I became part of the J. L. Mudd staff.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and have taught every elementary grade. I earned my Master’s Degree in Library Science from Lindenwood University. Becoming a librarian sixteen years ago was the best decision I ever made. I love reading stories to all the students and teaching them about the library.  My greatest satisfaction is watching them apply library skills in their daily lives. During my free time, I enjoy exercising, reading and spending time with my husband, children, and grandsons.
