Second Grade Art Showcase

In this
German inspired project by artist Wassily Kandinsky, the abstract cityscape, is a style of art that is not realistic. Unusual lines, colors, and shapes make the subject look quixotic. The mediums used are black Sharpie marker, highlighters, and peeled crayons for the background rubbings.

This second grade project was inspired by the Swiss-German artist Paul Klee (1879-1940). The medium used was oil pastel and tempera cake paint. The technique is called 'oil resist.' That's when you use water paint over part of the oil pastels, and the paper underneath absorbs the paint, but the oil pastel doesn' resists it!
