Attendance

One of the most important things your child can do to achieve academic success is: go to school every day. In fact, research shows that your child’s attendance record may be the biggest factor influencing his or her academic success. By attending class regularly, your child is more likely to keep up with the daily lessons and assignments, and take assessments on time. Many of the activities are hands on and involve working with other students as well, which are difficult to make up. By making your child’s school attendance a priority, you will be taking an important step in supporting your child’s school success and setting a good example. Remember: Every minute counts!

Tardies
If your child arrives after 9:00 AM, they must be escorted into the building. Please sign them in at the office on the clipboard. They should take a yellow pass to their teacher. Try your best to be on time.

Reporting

Our office keeps attendance records for each minute that your child is in school. EVERY MINUTE COUNTS! If your child arrives late, or is signed out early, the time missed is marked as a “tardy” on permanent records. That is why we have you sign your child in and out on the clipboard in the office. The attendance recorded on the report cards will reflect full or half day absences only. They will not reflect the minute by minute recording system. If a child arrives more than 30 minutes late or leaves more than 30 minutes early, that is counted as a one hour absence.

Illnesses
If your child must be absent because of illness, please call the office to verify the absence as soon as possible. A voicemail is available on (636) 272-2709. You may call at any hour of the night. If it appears that your child is going to be out for a number of days, please contact the office and make arrangements for your child’s homework to be picked up or sent home with a sibling or another student. Please call before 12 noon to pick up homework on the day of the absence. Homework requests made after 12 noon will be ready for the student the following day.
